The Bell, citing Germany’s Federal Cartel Office, says Schwarz Group, REWE, EDEKA and ALDI together accounted for up to 85% of Germany’s grocery retail market.
The Bell reports that the four groups together had nearly €420 billion in revenue in 2023 and operated more than 47,000 supermarkets in over 30 countries. The Gordon Group English site reports €450 billion of combined revenue in 32 countries for 2025 for LIDL and Kaufland of Schwarz Group, REWE, ALDI and EDEKA.
The market-share and revenue figures refer to different measures and years.
